Back To Traveling

It’s been a really long time since we’ve been able to travel… Really long.

The travel agent that gives back.

It didn’t begin with the outbreak of the global pandemic that emerged late 2019 and totally wreaked the the entire year of 2020. Though, we all can relate to that one.

I obsessively planned a road trip from Dallas, TX to Niagara Falls for May of 2020. This was a 20 day adventure that involved staying amazing accommodations mixed with exciting camping and hiking there and back again. The falls would be the pinnacle of the trip. Though the Smokey Mountains would have been a lovely runner up.

This trip was canceled in February 2020, not because Covid-19 had arrived in America. As no one was really sure when it truly landed here. But because our Scenic (set designing and building) business burst into flames. At that time, we figured it was going to be a lot of work relocating and starting over. So the trip was canceled. A shame too, as this was the first real trip we we’re able to plan in 2 years.

Then, of course come March and the shut downs began. I know a lot of people that did travel last year. We focused on our business, keeping our employees working, even when our clients peeled out and shut down. Even when suppliers shut down. We made it our goal to keep our troops working and families fed. There was only a tiny hiccup in work though, as our clients quickly got back to it.

Now mid 2021, work is smooth, clients are happily spending again and it’s time to travel. My favorite travel agent at Odyssey Fox is having a field day with me and all my ideas for travel this fall. We’re fully vaxed and and I can’t decided if we’re brave enough to cruise on a mega ship like Royal Caribbean or just fly out and Xcrete and all the parks they run in Mexico. Everything sounds so good. We don’t have the 20 days I’d like to have to redo the canceled road trip. Though I did book a Avalon river cruise next April for the tulips in Holland. This will be especial delightful as our agent, also a Chelsea, has booked us inline with the Floriade Expo 2022 — Growing Green Cities expo that only takes place every 10 years.

I did book a ocean cruise for October but now I’m thinking about the Xcrete adventure, hitting the jungles and beaches in Belize, camping in the Ozarks… I just don’t know what we really want to do.

What would you do? What are your 2021 plans? Have you traveled? I’d love to hear from you about that.
